A bit about me...
Welcome to my Fiat Lux site, the only website of it's type on the
Internet as far as I'm aware.
I'm Dave from Liverpool. I've now turned 40, married with two
children and still living in the 80's!!!
To most people the music of their teens is the stuff nostalgia is made
of, the electronic music of the early 80's shaped my musical taste.
Depeche Mode's 'New Life' and OMD's 'Messages' being amongst the first
singles I'll admit to buying!! Something about electronic music
grabbed me, it was just so different.
From there I discovered the analogue beauty of Kraftwerk and early
Human League records. I also got into Depeche Mode, OMD, Tears For
Fears, Heaven 17, Ultravox, Thomas Dolby and Fiat Lux (obviously) to
name but a few.
I don't recall when or where I first heard Fiat Lux but I remember
seeing them support Howard Jones in 1983.
My love of the music of these years hasn't deminished. I haven't got
into many bands since the 80's, apart from probably Placebo (yes, I
know they're not electronic!) and the likes of the newer electronic
bands like Mesh, VNV Nation and Venus Hum.
It was when I was searching the Internet during the summer of 1999
looking for info on Fiat Lux that it became apparent that there wasn't
much about them available. It led me to produce this site, although I
think it will be quite a few years before I consider it complete (if
such a thing is possible). I've also been fortunate enough to meet
David and Steve from the band during this time.
If you have any comments about the site please feel free to
e-mail me.
Thanks for looking,
Dave S
